Enrichment Program
Classes in foreign language and art provide your child with the opportunity for creative expression.
Spanish is taught weekly to pre-kindergarten children by Michelle Jackson, who also teaches Spanish at St. John's Jesuit High School. The children enjoy learning numbers, letters, songs, and other words in addition to learning about Spanish customs, clothing, and family traditions. Classroom teachers incorporate Spanish throughout the week so it becomes a relevant way for children to communicate, such as counting the number of crackers at snack time or identifying crayon colors in Spanish. Senora Jackson also sends home a summary sheet each week so family members can reinforce lessons learned at school. Senora Jackson has been with CDC since 1995.
Art instruction is provided each week by Grace Fry, CDC's Atelierista (art teacher). The children are encouraged to explore, make discoveries, and express themselves using a variety of materials and tools for creative expression. Ms. Fry has been with CDC since July, 2006.
