Security

In this uncertain world, you want to know children are safe. At Children's Discovery Center, we respect the trust parents have placed in us and have taken measures to protect children from harm.
  • Our security doors are always locked and can only be entered using a parental code. Parents receive their code upon enrollment, and it is erased from the system when their child is disenrolled.
  • Upon arrival, parents sign in and escort their child directly to his or her classroom
  • At checkout, parents sign out and present a green security card. No child is released without proper identification.
  • Alarm systems automatically notify the proper authorities in case of fire or after-hours break-in.
  • Fire drills are conducted monthly and tornado drills are conducted in the spring and summer.
  • All centers maintain strict standards regarding hygiene and safety. Staff members are instructed in proper hand washing procedures and teachers enforce regular hand washing with their children. Toys, equipment, cribs, and cots are disinfected regularly, serving dishes are washed in dishwashers using a sanitizing agent, and cribs and cots are assigned to one child (they are not shared).
  • Playground equipment is examined regularly to ensure there are no hazards, such as loose or exposed screws; any necessary repairs are reported to maintenance.
  • According to state mandates, children with state-specified signs and symptoms of illness are required to stay home.
  • A communicable disease Symptoms Chart is posted at each center. Staff members are trained in spotting symptoms and in administering first aid.
