Toledo, Ohio (June 13, 2017) – Children’s Discovery Center, a Toledo-based childcare company, will celebrate 35 years of business this month. The company opened its doors in June 1982 and has since opened nine locations in the Toledo area and two locations in South Carolina. The company’s educational model is based on the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which is an inquiry-based approach to early childhood learning and development.
“It is truly incredible that we are celebrating our 35th anniversary this year,” said Lois Rosenberry, president and CEO of Children’s Discovery Center. “While a lot has changed over the years, it’s comforting to see that the educational foundation and Christian values we built our company on are still holding strong.”
The company’s various locations have received more than 30 accolades such as “Family Favorites,” “Mom’s Choice for Best Pre-Care,” “Best Child Care” and “Mom’s Choice for Best Daycare” from both local and national publications. Rosenberry has also previously been selected as Master Leader of the Exchange Leadership Initiative, a title awarded by Exchange Magazine to experienced professionals who have proven themselves as able leaders in the field of early childcare and education.
“I really have to give a lot of credit to our exceptional teachers and staff,” said Rosenberry. “Their dedication to our mission, their respect for the Reggio Emilio educational philosophy and their love for our children is what sets our centers apart from the rest.”
Based in Toledo, Children’s Discovery Center expanded into Mount Pleasant, South Carolina with one location in 2013. Because of the success of the Mount Pleasant center, the organization opened a second location in 2015. Children’s Discovery Center has served more than 24,000 students since opening its doors in 1982 and employed more than 2,600 individuals.
