Lois Rosenberry, President and CEO

Lois Mitten Rosenberry founded Children’s Discovery Center in 1982 and has served as president and CEO of the company since that time. Mrs. Rosenberry has extensive experience in early childhood development, has served as a college professor, and a child care consultant for several private and public organizations.

Recognized as an innovator in her field, Mrs. Rosenberry has been featured in Inc. Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, Executive Female, Early Childhood News, and others. She is a Milestone for Women recipient and Athena Award winner. She has been named Northwest Ohio Entrepreneur of the Year, Small Business Person of the Year, Ohio Child-Care Administrator of the Year, and Master Leader in Early Childhood. In 2005 Mrs. Rosenberry received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Enterprise and was inducted as an Ohio Commodore. She currently serves on the boards of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and Ohio Small Business Council. She also previously served on the boards of 5/3 Bank and AAA Northwest Ohio

In addition to leadership in her field, Mrs. Rosenberry is committed to several charitable projects. She has partnered with others to create a home (the Deborah Center) for abused girls in the city of Timisoara, Romania and serves on the Advisory Board of Veritas, a nonprofit organization which provides a variety of services for the families of Sighisoara, Romania.

Mrs. Rosenberry holds a bachelor degree in behavioral science from Messiah College, Grantham, PA and a master’s degree in education from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. She is co-author of Inspiring Spaces for Young Children and Rating Observation Scale for Inspiring Spaces. She has three grown daughters, all of whom are graduates of Children’s Discovery Center. Her six grandchildren have attended Children’s Discovery Center and two of her daughters work for the company.


Jessica De Viney, Chief Operating Officer

Jessica DeViney has been an employee of Children’s Discovery Center since 1993, and has held previous positions as teacher, art director, business manager, assistant administrator, administrator and marketing director. She is an active member of the community, participating in the University of Toledo’s Family Business Center, educational study groups, and the Leadership Toledo Program. She is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University and has taken additional course work in education at the master’s level. Mrs. DeViney has co-authored and photographed twelve children’s books, as well as Inspiring Spaces for Young Children, and Rating Observation Scale for Inspiring Environments. Mrs. DeViney has been a creative environment consultant for Kaplan Early Learning Company, national child care centers, and the United States Air Force. She is the mother of two children.


Sara Mitten-Harris, Vice President & Creative Director

Sara Harris has been an employee of Children’s Discovery Center since 2001, and has held previous positions as teacher and administrator. She has her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bowling Green State University and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Kentucky. Mrs. Harris has been an creative environment consultant for child care facilities in Ohio and Pennsylvania as well as for Kaplan Early Learning Company. She is the co-author of twelve children’s books in addition to Inspiring Spaces for Young Children, and Rating Observation Scale for Inspiring Environments. She has four children who have attended Children’s Discovery Center.
