Each time we recognize a Featured Teacher, we celebrate model leaders within the Children’s Discovery Center team. They bring creativity, passion and enthusiasm to the classroom and are dedicated to ensuring that their students have a deep understanding of the material. Their innovative Reggio Emilia lessons and projects, along with their commitment to fostering meaningful relationships with their students, make them an excellent choice for being our Featured Teacher. It is with great honor to recognize Ms. Brittany! 

Going The Extra Mile

Ms. Brittany, has been in the education field for the past 16 years and has a bachelor’s degree in early education from University of Toledo. During this time, she has been able to lead and guide many students to academic and personal success. 

In addition to her enthusiasm and creativity she brings to each lesson, she also has a knack for getting the students involved in their favorite projects. These projects could range from creative writing assignments to hands-on science experiments. Her favorite project was teaching CDC preschool students about bees. Seeing how each student was engaged with the interactive learning experience while using real bee equipment brought her so much joy! Whatever the project is, Ms. Brittany is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that each student is having fun and retains a deep understanding of the material.

She fosters a spirit of learning and collaboration among the students. Ms. Brittany encourages each student to ask questions, engage in meaningful discussions, and think critically about the topics they are learning. Additionally, she works to build relationships with CDC students and their parents, creating an atmosphere of trust and respect.

She believes the community culture at Children’s Discovery Center is something unique. “Parents and community members seem to have generous hearts and care about each other. Community events like farmers markets, parades and festivals bring a sense of togetherness.” 

Her Personal Life

Outside of the classroom you can find her exploring the great outdoors! She enjoys being in nature, reading books and watching movies. Her love for her family and friends has cultivated the nurturing heart she leads with in every environment. Her faith has deeply rooted the positive outlook she has on life and how she encourages others, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans for a hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
