If our curious students are brave explorers of the world, then CDC teachers are their astute guides! These passionate educators are integral to our young discoverers’ growth in each S.T.E.A.M.-powered, Reggio Emilia-based lesson. We are thrilled to know compassionate instructors like Ms. Megan Hughes will be there for them every step of the way.
Helping Each Other Grow
As a lead teacher at our Wolf Creek location, Ms. Hughes seeks to inspire her pre-K B class in all they do. This seasoned educator has been with CDC for more than 15 years – at one point, a Discovery School kindergarten teacher – and uses each day to grow alongside her students.
To Ms. Hughes, there’s no moment we cannot learn from and there are no small steps in our development. “Whatever you do, take pride in it.” Her life motto says it all.
While she finds joy in her students’ discoveries, her greatest comes from inspiring their creativity and love of learning. This dedication can be seen in her favorite project – an “Art In Nature” assignment in which her class dove headfirst into the beauty of the great outdoors to study patterns and shapes found in animals, insects and flowers.
When asked about her favorite part of Children’s Discovery Center, Ms. Hughes shared that she loves the growing sense of community.
“Families become friends through the years as their children attend CDC. I also love getting to see previous students’ siblings as they go through each classroom.”
Her Personal Life
Before joining CDC, Ms. Hughes earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Bowling Green State University. It was here she followed her passion for teaching, which led her to our family.
When she is away from the classroom, Ms. Hughes loves making discoveries of her own! She can most likely be found curled up in a good book, spending a day at the Toledo Zoo or visiting one of Toledo’s local Metroparks.
