As many before us have once said, it takes a village to raise a child. Luckily for us, our village comprises some of the most compassionate and dedicated educators we’ve ever known. We’re thankful to work alongside outstanding teachers who are equally devoted to our important mission of hands-on learning and child-centric exploration.
Educators like our featured teachers are why Children’s Discovery Center has become the premier source of childhood education and discovery for families across the Toledo area. This month, we’re thrilled to introduce you to our very own Ms. Lem and Ms. Ashley.
Our CDC Dream Team
This dynamic CDC duo goes above and beyond to unlock our students’ potential. Ms. Lem, who has been with us for nine years, and her assistant teacher Ms. Ashley, who has been with us for three, team up to combine their many years of experience working with young children to create a nurturing environment for our young learners.
Together, this terrific pair is leading Pre-K students in enriching Reggio Emilia exploration and inspiring the rest of us in the efforts. Their most recent collaboration, “Exploring the Ocean,” took students’ imaginations to the deep blue sea.
Ms. Lem and Ms. Ashley have said that this ongoing lesson has been their favorite yet, with their past project, “Exploring Space,” coming in at a close second.
Ms. Ashley’s Life Motto: “It’s okay to make mistakes, it’s how we learn and grow. That’s why pencils have erasers.”
However, no matter the lesson, they both agree that their “love for teaching and watching our children blossom” makes every lesson at CDC a dream. These devoted educators find joy in their job and community, saying, “The bond and relationships we build with (our parents and students) is completely amazing.”
Their Personal Life
As with all our educators, Ms. Lem and Ms. Ashley have ways to nurture and grow themselves outside the classroom. Ms. Lem expresses her artistic side by painting and drawing in her free time, while her assistant teacher enjoys getting lost in a good book.
When they’re not helping guide Toledo’s children, both educators also love to explore the world around them. Ms. Ashley loves to test out her tastebuds by searching for new food trucks to try, and Ms. Lem enjoys traveling to new places. Both also love spending time with their friends and family.
Ms. Lem’s Life Motto: “I have four basic needs: Food, Shelter, Clothing and You.”
Our team is proud of the exceptional work these excellent teachers devote to our students daily. Their dedication and collaboration are perfect examples of what good teamwork can accomplish. We’re blessed that our students have such amazing role models in the classroom.
